It was a new church yet to be built behind the house we lived in on the 5 acres of land @ 1313 W. Transmission Rd(now University and now an ATT sight). Mike lived across the street in the Garden Grove subdivision. We knew each other all the way through and beyond High School. Mike got Tim and me our first paper routes. I first met Mike when he was a teenager and we attended the same church--Mesa Baptist. Because I was a controller at Phoenix Tower, Mike became interested in ATC and would spend hours visiting at the tower and watching us work traffic. Later, he joined the Air Force and became a controller himself.
I remember Mike visiting me on Shamrock Ave in Fountain Valley, CA and introducing him to my neighbor, Mary. I also recall a few weeks later, we had the wedding at our house. Also,...

I remember Mike taking time to spend talking baseball with my special needs grandchild, leaving and returning with a Cubs' ball for my grandchild. A good visitor on almost any subject and a kind man. My sympathy to the family. Shirley Curry

Mike, you shared your daughter with me and I shared my son with you. We both were blessed through this with two beautiful granddaughters to share.Thank you for being a great friend..Bill Holland

Mike, my brother Tim and I from age 10 to 19 were inseparable. While life has separated us geographically, I will always treasure his memories. I regret not keeping in touch with him. May the everlasting arms of God's Love encircle us all, now and forever. Jim Boubelik(Orlando,Fl,) [email protected]

Leisa and Pops Thanksgiving 2009

Pops- You loved me when you didn't have to, you chose to. Thank you for adopting me and for raising me as your own. Without you I never would have known a father's love. You will forever be in my heart. I love and miss you.

Mike, a great person! Do anything for anybody, anytime. We will miss you immensely! I had the distinct pleasure of working with Mike at Chandler Tower. Great times for both controllers and the flying public. We wish the best for your family!
