Chambers Funeral Homes - Cleveland Obituary

MICHAEL P. McCARTHY, age 86, passed away peacefully June 5, 2025. Dear father of Patricia, Kathleen, and Andrea Dolbin (Victor). Proud grandfather of Steven Sinko (Kelsey), Alexandria Canepa (Ian), Gabrielle Dolbin, Grace McCarthy, and Eva Marie Dolbin.  Cherished great-grandfather of William and Charlie Sinko. Beloved son of the late Michael and Rose McCarthy, brother to the late Thomas (Audrey), Eileen Kilfoyle, and the late Rosemarie Kelly (William).  He was adored by his nieces and nephews and treasured by his countless friends.

Michael was a graduate of St. Edward High School and a U.S. Army veteran.  When not sharing proud stories of his grandchildren and their accomplishments, Mike could be heard discussing and living two things: "38" and the Program.  It was his honor to be a 67-year member of I.B.E.W. Local 38, where he was a staunch and active union member.  In addition to his love for Local 38, Mike had eternal gratitude for his 43 years as a devoted friend of Bill W.  He cherished the friends he had throughout Cleveland and their shared commitment to living lives of gratitude and service.

Michael's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at St Therese of Westlake Senior Living and Orquidia Hernande for their kindness, exceptional care, and love over the last 2 years as well as to Michael's friend, Eileen Loftus, for her friendship.

Funeral Mass Friday, June 13,  St. Patrick Church (West Park) at 10 A.M.  Interment private Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, THURSDAY 5-7 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Absolute House at absolutehouse.org

Not sure what to say?

He was one of the dearest people I have ever known. I will miss his smile, and how he would wave at me. My sincere and deep sympathy to all of his family.

To The McCarthy Family,
I just learned that Mike had died. I'm very sorry for your loss. He had many friends. I hope it is of some comfort for you to know that others remember him and really care.
God Bless.

To the McCarthy family , With deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad, Grandpa, and great Grandpa . Mike and my Dad were good friends with a strong connection to IBEW local 38 and decades of sobriety . Very proud to be both . Wishing you peace and comfort .

I’ve always looked forward to seeing Mike weekly!! He had a smile, and some good advice for me. He will me missed by many. God Bless

My deepest sympathy to the McCarthy family on the loss of your dad, and grandfather. I met Michael only a few short months ago when I would bring him holy communion, and a gospel reading, each Wednesday morning. Michael was blessed with the loving care provided by his daughter, Andrea, who traveled from Columbus to visit and care for him. Then, too, I learned that we had a mutual friend, Eileen Loftus, and this also provided additional conversation during our visits.

So, Michael...

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Sending condolences to all the McCarthy family. May you rest in peace, Mike.
