Millie, I am so sorry about the loss of your son. The last time we saw you and Lenita here in Nova Scotia, you had concerns about your daughter in law. Who would have thought that Mike would pass so shortly after. Know that we are thinking of you and your family! Just wish I could have met him. So glad I met you and we took the trip to Canso.

We will all miss your smiling face and quick wit. Your wry sense of humor and chuckle often reminded me of your Dad.

He taught me so much during my time at The Daily Banner. He was a fine leader and a very good man. I will always remember him fondly. My condolences to his family.

My life is markedly different from what it would have been because Mike took a chance on me and hired me as a reporter in 1993 at the DSN. Because of the eight years that I worked at that newspaper and the course my life took post-DSN, he has always had a warm spot reserved for him in my heart.
