Eulogy: D. J Penny
How can I put into words the person that my brother Michael was? There were so many great things about him, that it will be hard to do in just a few short paragraphs.
Michael was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy at a very young age.
He attended Our Lady of Grace School where he made many lifelong friends.
He then moved on to Paul VI High School where, once again, he made many friends and had great academic success.
Mike later went to...

Hey Mike,

Ter here! Glad to hear that all is well with you now--you earned it! I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much you meant/mean to me--I know that you know these things already--you are a perceptive guy, but I want to tell you again anyway. Mike, you taught me many things like, persistence, patience, determination, kindness, attitude, selflessness, humor in the face of adversity, caring, humility and the list goes on and on...I hope to live up to your...

I was very saddened to hear of Michael's death, but thrilled to know that he was able to attend his brother's wedding, a goal that he had in the summer of 2008, when I helped care for him. You are wonderful parents and evidence of goodness in the world. I am privileged to have known all of you. Bob S, CHOP resident

I am so grateful to Mike for all he's done for me. Without him I don'tknow where my work would be. He was great guy, and I wish I had the opportunity to meet him and thank him personally. My heart goes out to his family. RIP Mike.We are all thinking of you.

Mike was a great guy. The kind of guy the comics industry needs more of these days... or any day for that matter. :(

I heartily wish I had known Mr. Penney, but the sad fact is that I did not know of his existence until after he died. Still, I wish to extend my own condolences to his friends and family, and to express my best wishes to them for the coming year.

Dear Maureen and Mike,
I learned of Michael's death after returning from a vacation. As I got to know Michael and you through our visits and learn more about his life and accomplishments it became clear he was a gem. He was blessed to have parents like you; how you must miss him.
My sympathy and prayers,
Dexter

Mike you will be missed. You were a great friend and allie in the comic book industry. I thank you for all your hard work and memories.

I learned about Michael through Kris Simon, as a fellow comic creator it's always sad to see a creative fellow leave... and at 33 is far too soon. My condolences and sympathies to his friends and family.
