Mr. Michael D. Peterson, 55, affectionately known as ?Mike? entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Johnston Willis Medical Center, Richmond, Va. He was born at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Va., on August 15, 1959 to the late Pattie L. Peterson. His grandparents, Deacon Eddie J. and Eliza S. Peterson, Sr., preceded him in death. Michael graduated from Petersburg High School Class of 1977.
At a young age he was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Va., and later joined Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va. At the time of his death he was an active and dedicated member of Bibleway Christian Center, Petersburg, Va. He was employed for numerous years at Allied Chemical, Hopewell, Va., and later at Colonial Webb in Richmond, Va., as a Certified High Tech Plumber until declining health.
He was gifted resourceful and willing to help anyone. Some of his most enjoyable moments were watching wrestling and listening to ?Oldies But Goodies.?
Michael leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Tameka Peterson of Haymarket, Va., Tamia Peterson of Alexandria, Va., and Tamera Peterson of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Kamoni Gardner and Aaron Branch both of Haymarket, Va.; two uncles, Eddie J. Peterson, Jr., (Nancy) of Petersburg, Va., and Elder Emmette R. Peterson (Dr. Sharon E.) of North Dinwiddie, Va.; four very devoted aunts, Lucille P. Goodwyn (Herbert) of North Dinwiddie, Va., Rev. Dr. Ora M. Peterson whom he resided with, Sandria Peterson-Fleming of North Chesterfield, Va., and Delores P. Cain (Pastor Harry) of South Euclid, Ohio. Michael also leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and very dedicated friend, Gertrude S. Gilmore; cousins, Jamia C. Thomas (Anthony), Katrice D. Cain, Elwood Burrow, Terice A. Mason, LaShaunda Jones, Sandria Lherisse (Shawn), Alan Peterson, Darinda Peterson, Eddie Peterson III, and Bria Peterson; friends, Margurite D. Hill, Wallace Sykes, Andrea Jackson, Denise Canada, Patricia Gilmore, Randy Gholson, Demetrius Vinson, Benjamin Walker, Joseph Miles, Terrence Bush, Kenneth Thomas, Kenny Lambert, Larry Snow, Dewitt King and Edward Whitaker, and a host of other cousins, neighbors, and friends.
A celebration of life for Mr. Michael D. Peterson will be held 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Gillfield Baptist Church, 209 Perry Street, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. George W. C. Lyons, Jr., Pastor, officiating and Bishop Michael Johnson, eulogist. The interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
Wake services will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the funeral establishment.
The immediate family is asked to assemble 11:00 A.M., at 1114 Hilton Place, Petersburg, the day of the services.
