Send FlowersPhelps, Sr., Michael A. Was born March 7, 1951 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Willie Lee and Cleopatra Phelps. He graduated from Tolleston in 1968. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington. Michael and Russell owned and operated Phelps Place, Phelps Auto and Tri State Motors. He was affectionately known as "Mike P" in the Karaoke circuit. He was a Jehovah's Witness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Cleopatra Phelps; brothers, Cleophus Davis and Willie Phelps. He is survived by wife, Carol; children, Twyla Smith, Keimonte (Merlene), Kenyon, Michael (Antanisha), Jason and Jonathan Phelps; sisters, Barbara (Clinton) Webster, Connie Davis, Elaine Powers, Cleo, Charlene, Darlene (Ronald) Lacefield; brothers, Russell (Sharon), Ronald (Donna), Gregory; and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Today, Sunday, December 21, 2014, I just found out about Mike's passing. I still have November 6, 7, and 8, 2014, texts from him! I am an avid karaoke fan, and many times I would get texts from Mike about new locations. Occasionally he and I would do a duet, such as the Righteous Brothers. I am deeply saddened by his passing. Mike was such a wonderfully pleasant and positive person! If the family wants me to text Mike's text messages of 11-6, 11-7, and 11-8, I will be happy to do so. ...
