Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home - Newport Obituary

Michael Philip Place. 7/14/60-9/19/20

Michael died peacefully Sept. 19th at Bel Aire Nursing home.

He was a graduate of North Country Union High School where he was an avid tennis player.  He met his real calling in cooking.  He was well known from the various restaurants in which he cooked at.  He also loved to build things, always having some sort of project in the works.  He loved going on long early morning walks.

Mike always had a smile on his face and if he could help someone out, he went out of his way to do it.  He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but his numerous friends

Mike was pre-deceased by his parents, Patricia and Philip Place, also by an older brother, Peter Place.

He is survived by his three sons, Mike, Steven, and Tanis, all of whom he was very proud of.  They put a twinkle in his eyes every time he spoke of them.  He is also survived by his siblings:  Theresa and husband Nick Stokes of Yorktown Virginia, Elizabeth Place and partner Tony Eastwood of W. Chesterfield N.H., Patricia (Susie) Place and husband Tom Bussell of Derby Line, VT., Margaret (Missy) Place and partner Cliff Gaudette of Pownal VT., Mary (MiMi) and husband Joe Becker of Bennington VT.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mike is also survived by his very special lady, that shared not only his life, but his love for the last 15 years.  Lauri Bonneau of Derby, VT.

As per Michael’s wishes there will be no services. Online condolences may be made at curtis-britch.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home & Cremation Service, locally family owned and operated.

Not sure what to say?

I miss you love every single day , no one can replace you and love I promise you your wishes will be granted no matter what.

I cant believe your gone. Yes you were a nice person.

Sorry for your loss.

So very sorry Lauri for the loss of Mike. He was such a great guy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family during this very difficult time.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Wish I could have talked to you one more time about my son Devin Paul David Van Bockler

I'm so sorry to hear that Mike has passed away. My sincere condolences to his loved ones. Mike and I had our first real restaurant jobs at Franks Steakhouse when we were still in high school. Mike had been working there a while when I started and he went out of his way to show me the ropes. We had so many good times on the job. He would often play Flight Of The Bumblebee on the jukebox while we did the night cleanup. He made going to work so much fun.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Thinking of you all.

So sorry for your loss!! Went to school with him and lost track of him in this hectic life!

A member of our late 1970's NCUHS "mafia" where we always had a great time together. Will miss those days Mike. Say hello to the Melvin Kelley and Larry Castro and save the rest of us a beer and some laughs when we all meet again. Condolences to your family and say hi to your Dad!
