Michael Ray Pledger

Michael Ray Pledger, 44, of Waynesboro. On October 4, 1967, our Heavenly Father sent one of His most precious angels to earth to brighten the lives of those who loved him and knew him. On Saturday, January 28, 2012, all the stars lit up and St. Peter opened the door for Michael to come back home to the paradise that Michael wanted to go back to, to relieve him from his suffering and pain of the last four years. Michael was employed with Martins Grocery Store in Staunton and has worked as a supervisor in other markets in Chicago and the Virginia area. He sold real estate in Virginia Beach for eight years. Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Pledger; his maternal grandparents, Opal and Eskil Cash; his paternal grandmother, Estelle Tidwell; and many special uncles and other family members. He is survived by his beloved parents, Ray and Nadine Pledger; his loving sister, Robin Kohn and her husband, Robin of Indiana; three special nephews, Steven, Ryne and Matt Smitka; and his one special, favorite niece, Samantha Smitka, whom he loved dearly; his special aunts and uncles; his best lifelong friend, Donnie Richardson and Michael's loving cats, Precious and Samantha.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, in the chapel of the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, conducted by the Reverend Merle L. Fisher Jr., and where the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, 1001 Mount Torrey, Lyndhurst, VA 22952, with checks made out to the "City of Waynesboro" and designating the "Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center" in Memo. The obituary can be viewed and memories and condolences may be shared at www.charltonandgroomefuneralhome.com or to his sister, [email protected].
