Mike's Wave of "Hello" and to some, "Good-bye"

When I first met Mike, he, Diane and I were asked to start a Friends Group at the Ag History Farm Park. I quickly learned what a great friend he could be. He was quiet, honest and always planning the next addition or event for the Farm Park. He was a special "Friend" to the farm and a personal friend. Our thanks to Shirley, Amy, Justin & Laura for sharing him with us and so many more and knowing he still had time for them.

Mike was a real genuine guy, salt of the earth type of guy who you could trust with your life or your wallet. He was always willing to do what was necessary to help the cause. When I was President of the Two Cylinder Club he very quitely did what ever was necesssary to help make our events a success. His quite gental manners will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Mike was one of the nicest and most giving individuals I've have the pleasure to meet. When I worked at some of the Farm Park events, he always took the time to answer a question or fix a problem, no matter how many people were clamoring for his attention. He always gave it his all and made friends wherever he went. He'll be missed.

Mike & Shirley at the Maryland Two Cylinder 15th Anniversary Banquet, April 30, 2005.

Members of the Maryland Two Cylinder Club extend condolences to the family of Mike Roth.

Howdy, My family has liked Montgomery County's Agricultural Fair since the early 70's. We live in Virginia but are country folks from Pennsylvania. I have always been interested in the Old Timers at the fair and after I retired I got to meet Mike and became his Friend. I am a charter member of the Farm Park because of Mike. He always made me feel welcome even though I am an outsider. I sure will miss him and his permanent smile.

Dear Shirley and family.
I was shocked and saddended to hear of Mike's death. And I am truly sorry for your loss. It is a loss for all of us. Mike was a "friends" friend. He seemed to be at his best when serving with his friends at the farm park. He gave so much of himself thru all his volunteer work. It just won't be the same without him. We'll miss him too.

Reminded me of santa sometimes... always had a twinkle in his eye like he knew something you didn't... there isn't anyone who met Mike who wasn't touched by him in some meaningful way... a very giving person... always there when you needed him ...always finding ways to do something to help his friends.
