KITTERY, Maine - Last week the world lost one if its brightest stars when Michael Savchick passed away at home in Kittery, Maine, at the age of 68. A staple of the greater Portsmouth community, Misha was a master piano technician who never gave up on the craft and kept music alive on the...

Not sure what to say?

We just heard the news about Misha from our neighbor. We were so sorry. we wondered why we had not heard from him to tune our piano; something he had done for almost 30 years 2x/year. Dale enjoyed talking to him about pianos and his craft and I loved hearing him and watching him (from the sidelines). May you continue to keep the pianos wherever you go stay in tune..

My condolences to you and your family. Misha tuned our piano for many years and we always enjoyed our short visits. He was a kind and interesting man, and spoke with pride of your work and travels. He had a wonderful twinkle in his eyes. We will miss him.

My sincere condolences to you all. The first time I met Michael was the cold night of the super bowl about 9 years ago. Larry and I just popped in to say hello. The warmest greetings and great conversation ensued. He went into the kitchen at one point, a little clinking and clanking here & there then Viola! he returned with a beautifully presented pot roast with applesauce and asparagus spears and we dined in fine fashion. Always a gracious host and we could talk about anything. Love you...

My sincere sympathies to you all. We did indeed lose a special gem. The first time I met Misha was the night of the super bowl about 9 years ago. Larry and I showed up unannounced just to say hello, met with the best greeting and conversation. He went into the kitchen at one point, a little clinking here and there and next thing you know; voila! he came out with a steaming hot pot roast, apple sauce and asparagus spears which we dined on in fine style! I loved Michael he was always a...

Michael is busy keeping the angels' harps in tune, I'm sure, just as he did my piano for a decade. A kind and gentle human, I will "hold him in the light"

I will also remember sailing with Michael and friends on the Pisces! He was a master piano tuner, and a wonderful person. We have lost a true treasure. RIP my friend

Such a great man. I always looked forward to running into him in Portsmouth for a big smile and a grand tale. Such a kind human being. Sorry for your loss. Miss you already Misha!

My sympathies to you, Lucia, and to all his family. I knew Michael over many years, through pianos and boats and life, and always loved seeing him. Lost touch these past years, but was delighted to run into him not too long ago in the Kittery post office. He made his mark in this area, for sure. People liked and respected him. He was bright, skilled, funny, and kind. And he was himself. That's a legacy we can all aspire to. I, too, will miss him.

Thank you all for your support. My Uncles and I will be sending around information about a memorial service soon. If you would like to be notified, please send me a message at [email protected], and take a look at some of the photos of my beloved father I've collected on https://missingmisha.wordpress.com/

Thank you for your kindness.
