Chicopee, Massachusetts
Jun 24, 1966 – Jun 14, 2021 (Age 54)
Michael P. Schirmer passed into eternal life on June 14, 2021 after a difficult battle with cancer. Mike was born in Keene, NH on June 24, 1966. The son of John E. and Jane F. Schirmer (nee Kane). He enjoyed a wonderful childhood and annual family vacations to York, ME. In 1977 Mike moved to West Springfield, MA. He was a great athlete. He played varsity football for West Springfield High School before transferring to Springfield Christian School where he made many cherished, lifelong friends. He graduated in 1985 while also serving as a missionary and Safari tour guide in the UAE. Mike married Michele Guerra in 1995. He lived for a short time in St. Petersburg, FL, before returning home to Massachusetts to raise his family. In 2001 Mike found his niche at Windsor Marketing Group in Suffield, CT. He received various honors including The Golden T award for outstanding performance. Michael began working for Spaeth Property Service in 2019 and although he worked there a short time, the staff were kind and thoughtful to him throughout his illness. Mike loved music. He enjoyed playing guitar and evenings at home showing off his skills around the house on his daughter's hover-board. Michael’s world was his family. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his daughters Sydney (Silverio) Callirgos of East Longmeadow, Taylor and Jordan Schirmer of Chicopee, and his young grandson Samuel Callirgos. Michael is survived by his parents John E. and Jane Schirmer of Westfield, sisters Gwen Fenton (Dennis) of Springfield, Elizabeth Bourassa (Joseph) of Southwick, brothers John G. Schirmer of West Springfield and James Schirmer (Marta) of Budapest, Hungary. Michael was loved by many other family members. Though soft spoken, Mike emitted enormous strength and a fierce love and loyalty to his family. He was a devout Christian who attended Life Point Church in Chicopee. A celebration of life service to honor Michael’s legacy will be held at First Central Bible Church in Chicopee, MA on July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The family will begin receiving guests at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.

Mike was always a pleasure to work with. He would always be upbeat and positive and I really liked him because of that. I remember him warning me about doing too much overtime because it wasn't worth it because it took away from family time which was much more important. I will never forget him. I offer my sympathy to his family and loved ones.
