My deepest sympathies to you, Nancy, and your family. I had a chance to meet and, later, interview Mike for a history of Froebel High School. His life story was very compelling. The valedictorian of his class, he went on to graduate from Purdue after working long weekends at U.S. Steel to pay his way through, and living in an attic in Lafayette and using a hotplate to prepare his meals. He was dedicated to his church and the Russian Orthodox Cemetery on Ridge Road, where my aunt is buried....

I remember Mike from when I was transferred to Whiting from Naperville back in the 1980's. He was in charge of Inspection while I was there, and I reported to him. I thought he was great!
