Michael Joseph Slavin M.D.

We are so sorry to hear of Dr Slavin's passing. We were among his first patients when he first opened Saginaw Family Physicians all the way to his retirement from family practice. Peace be with his family. He certainly is missed.

I just learned of the loss of Dr Slavin, today, and am saddened to hear this news. We moved to Saginaw in 1986. A few months later I became very sick, with a chronic, undiagnosed condition, that I had seen many doctors for. We had a two month old and 2 other children, at the time. He was not taking new patients, but saw me, as he was covering. This kind, gentle man literally spent 1 1/2 hours in the room with me, before eventually sending me to the hospital as a direct admit. So sorry for the loss of Mike. As neighbors on W. Winfield Dr, we miss seeing Mike out in his yard doing something with nature. Espesially in his great wooded backyard. It was fun watching our kids grow up together. We remember the conversations on the street, just talking about the events of the day. The highlight of the year was the lighting of the IL luminary candles at Christmas Eve. Mike loved doing the candles even though it at times was terribly cold. Take Care Mary, We hope to see you...

I had the privilege of knowing Mike through our mutual activities arising from our involvement with our PHOs and our love of primary care. He was a warm, knowledgeable and helpful colleague. Even though we worked with competing health systems he was always looking for ways to collaborate to improve health outcomes in the mid Michigan area. A wonderful person and physician.

I do not want this difficult time for the family and friends to pass by without expressing how much I appreciated having Dr. Slavin as my physician. When I met him as a patient, I experienced how good he was, and his office appeared to be expanding during my last appointment. I received his name from another well-respected family physician, and he practiced and lived up to my expectations as a good Doctor and person that I had the privilege to meet. My condolences to family and friends

Michael and I first met at St. Paul seminary in 1963. Many fond memories esp from the debate team with Tom Flynn and dick van wert. Mike went to Wayne state and I went to Saginaw valley only to reunite in med school in Detroit where he helped nelda and I find our first appt. Mike was a great caring physician warm and joyful.
