In memory of Mike as the rest of us approach 2008. Happy New Year!

"Good-bye Mike" - photo of Mike at his office in Sacramento, January, 2006

To the Strunk Family,

My condolences, thoughts and prayers are extended to the Strunk family during their time of pain and sorrow.

I had the opportunity of meeting Mike approximately 5 years ago working for Licensing and Certification, Investigations. Mike's keen knowledge of the program and sincere commitment showed in all he achieved and in helping others excel. Mike warmly extended the generosity of assisting me whenever needed.

Additionally, Mike and I use to start...

Dear Strunk Family,

I was saddened to hear about Mike.
I knew him for 5 years as he was my first manager at L&C.
I will always have fond memories of our conversations.
Moreover, I will remember his passion of classical music.

God bless!

PS. I am sure he is doing piano recitals in heaven.

I had the privilege of working with Mike for the past two years at DHS L&C. He was a professional's professional for whom I had the highest regard. My sympathies to his family; I can only imagine what a great loss you have suffered, but I know that you had a wonderful life together.

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. I worked with Mike as an Evaluator in the Fresno L&C district. He later became my Supervisor and shorlty thereafter his career took of when he went to Sacramento for various jobs and assignments. Mike was a great person, friend and colleague. He taught me much and I will greatly miss him. Love and prayers to the Stunk family. God bless.

A note to Mike: It's way too soon to say goodbye but that's the way it is, all too often, in life...and death. I don't think I ever thanked you for hiring me into my first position at L&C headquarters. I'll always be greatful for giving me that opportunity. It was a pleasure working with you and I learned a lot under your leadership. I admired your dedication to duty, your sense of fairness and justice. And you were a true champion of the underdog. I can't leave out modesty and a wonderful...

I am very sorry for your loss. Mike and I worked together in the L&C Program - Professional Certification Branch for a time, and shared musical interests--although his was more classical and mine more, well, Elvis. What I remember most about Mike was his hard work, integrity and his goal of always wanting to do the right thing. I will eternally appreciate his friendship and loyalty, and I am the better for having been a colleague to him.

May God comfort you in your hour of sorrow,...

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Mike and I worked together as investigators for ATCS with L&C for a period of time. But, even after we both left ATCS, with Mike going his way, and I going mine, I always tried to keep track of where he was and touch bases with him when I could. It was a pleasure and a privilege knowing and working with Mike, and he will be sorely missed by all of us here at L&C. I hope your loss of Mike is lessened in knowing how many of us at L&C cared for Mike,...
