Not sure what to say?

Gona miss ya cuz!!!

I have known Michael for over 50 years since his days at Gene Crutcher Books. If you were looking to turn an ordinary event into an adventure or make an adventure more memorable teaming up with Swindle was a good place to start. Michael was a boon friend. May his adventures continue.

Ah yes, from Crutchers Bookstore; the dashing, smart, twinkled eyed young man who would gently introduce one to ideas that made lasting impressions. Having no knowledge of the life that he lived, it is wonderful to hear the stories. Yes, good! Good and well, safe travels.

Johnny was your close friend more like a brother. He loved hanging out with you and your literary genus. You will be missed by many including me. Andy

When I learned of Mike's passing I thought about his sister, Nancy, and her husband in Memphis. Then I thought about the great music Mike and I shared over a span of 50-plus years at clubs, festivals, at each other's houses and eventually in emails and phone calls. We also shared a bond as Vietnam veterans who neither one should have ever been in the military. There was some confusion about the purchase, so Mike and I started the long drIve back to NO in the large luxury sedan I rented. But first, we had to stop at a juke joint he knew about because he was friends with the woman who ran it. We walked in the only two white guys present and were immediately greeted by the...

Hello all, Michael's friends in the Bywater are celebrating his life on June 13, 2025 from 4-6 at BJ's Lounge in New Orleans. Michael was one of a kind and we will miss him dearly.

Friends from high school and beyond. He introduced me to reading when it had been no part of my life. Wriers like Jack Kerouac, JD Salinger, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and on and on. So many memories for our days at Woodlawn, and numerous trips to New Orleans. R.I.P. Mike!! Steve Salter, Fort Morgan Alabama

What a loss. I knew Mike from high school and Gene Crutcher's Bookstore. He was smart and kind. I have so many great memories from those years, and from several of our high school reunions. Thanks for the dances. Dear Mike, I'll miss you terribly.
