Not sure what to say?

So sorry Nora for your loss. He was a good guy with a dry but keen sense of humor. He was a credit to the Petaluma Police Department and an asset to the community. I enjoyed our time together on the streets as beat cops and our commute time together. You and your family are in our prayers. Pat

Dear Nora, Jonathan, Melissa and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Though I lost my connection with Mike after I left PPD and he retired, I have many fond memories of working and laughing with him especially during our time on graveyards. He was a person of integrity who treated all people with respect. I am honored to have known and worked with him. Sincerely, Andy Mazzanti

I had the privilege of working alongside Mike at PPD. Such a kind and patient sole. He will be missed. God bless you Mike and family.

Mike and I shared kind of a special bond over being officers in the Army around the same time. We often teased each about our military occupational branches, him being Armor and me being Infantry. I even have vague memories of the call where he first hurt his knee. As a new officer, I learned a lot from Mike and whenever we worked together, I always knew he had my back. I can remember the good-natured grief he gave me when I got into a collision with "his" patrol car. As others have said, my...

I served with Mike on the Petaluma Police Department. A truly great officer and gentleman. Mike worked most night shifts so either he or Nora would be home with the kids. That´s the family man he was. He was awarded officer of the year not only for PPD but Sonoma County for going into a house on fire in the early morning hours he pulled out the resident. One great person.

I remember Mike telling me as a rookie cop, "I'll remember your name after you pass probation," with a slight smirk. A great sense of humor and a wealth of information to pass on about learning the profession. Condolences to the Tallent family. Joe

I have many fond memories of working with Mike at Petaluma PD. His sense of humor and his "can do" attitude were always appreciated! My condolences to his family as you navigate this difficult time. He touched so many.

I had the privilege of having Mike as my first Training Officer. At briefing on my second night he sat down next to me and dropped a paperback edition of Webster's Dictionary in front of me saying "It's blatantly obvious you are going to need this to get through your career." He wasn't wrong. I used that dictionary until the end of my career, when I was reviewing other officers reports. After I promoted, he worked on my team. He was an officer I trusted to do the right thing every time,...
