Michael Thomas Sweeney, age 70, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023. Beloved father of Caroline (Aaron) Kamenash, Tom (Claudia), Mike (Carina) and Mary Sweeney. Cherished former husband of Katie Sweeney. Loving brother of Kathleen, Kevin, Patrick, Sharon, and Shaun (Kim) Sweeney, Eileen (Don) Goodman, Bridget (Chip) Glaescher and Megan (John) Groene. Loving son of the late Tom and Mary Joan Sweeney. Adored Uncle to 32 nieces and nephews.
Mike went to Cardinal Pacelli grade school and St. Xavier High School where he was recognized as a Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star for his achievements in football. He loved all sports, especially watching football and golf, and listening to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio. He also enjoyed watching his children compete in all their multiple sporting events – swimming, diving, football, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and track and field (just to name a few).
Following in his father’s and family traditions, Mike was in the automobile business for over 40 years. He loved cars and would often ask his children to join him for a drive.
Kind to everyone, Mike was often surrounded by his family and friends. He loved sharing a good joke, especially one with a head-turning punchline, followed by a snap of his fingers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 20, 11AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Church. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Holy Spirit Center; 5440 Moeller Ave., Norwood, OH 45212, or St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church; 7754 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45236 or St. Xavier High School, 600 W. North Bend Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45224.

I did not know Michael personally but I do know and adore a few who loved him so; Shaun, Katie and Joanne. Please know you are in my prayers and may God bless the entire Sweeney family at this time.
God has Michael in His arms now and Michael has already cared for others during his transition from earth to heaven.

I extend my deepest condolences for your tragic loss. Mike and your entire family are in my thoughts and daily prayers. I will always remember buying my first car from Mike many many years ago and his kindness during that process.

Sending love and prayers to Mike's precious family. Mike was always so nice to me when we were at CPS and I seem to remember that he provided some good laughs too. Farewell and rest easy.

Condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Mike. My mom Josephine worked for his family for several years and I bought my first car from the family dealership.

Many prayers and much love to the entire Sweeney family. What a terrible loss for all, especially Caroline, Tommy, Mikey and Mary, whom I loved so much as babies and children in my babysitting years. Your dad was beyond proud of all of you and boy did he adore each and every one of you! Always smiling and joyfully laughing at your sillyness and sweetness. May our Good Lord comfort you in the days ahead and may the memories of your dad be cherished and bring you smiles.
