Michael Threadgill Obituary

Michael "Mike" Roland Threadgill, of Burnet, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 29, 2024. Mike was born in Sherman, Texas, on July 29, 1948, to Roland and Muriel Threadgill.

Michael grew up in San Antonio and Denison, TX. He graduated from Denison High School. After high school he attended several Texas colleges before finally graduating from The University of Texas in Austin, earning a degree in business, from the McCombs School of Business in 1971. After graduation, Mike worked for the State of Texas where he met and worked with his lifelong friend, Harry Ransier. Mike went on to have a successful career as a Land and Real Estate investor, over his lifetime owning and selling some of the most beautiful properties in Texas and Colorado.

Mike met and married his wife of 40 years, Jeanie Lillard in 1984. They then moved to Kingsland, Texas, with Jeanie's children, Troy and Melissa and made a family. Eventually building their forever ranch in Burnet, Texas.

Mike spent the years investing in the most memorable South Texas ranches. He had a great love for wildlife and was a big advocate for land and wildlife preservation. Mike loved to hunt and fish. "Deer camp" at the ranch was always the most exciting time for Mike and his family and friends. Mike introduced many young people to the love of the land, hunting and fishing, which has left a lasting imprint on every one of them.

Mike worked at ranching cattle over his lifetime, as well as encouraging a healthy deer population. He loved to hike, explore and drive around and check on the ranch with his wife and family. The people in Mike's life that have every worked cattle with him, will never forget their experience with that; and have all lived to tell the tale.

Mike was an avid Texas Longhorn Football fan. Going to championship games with his wife and brother and sister-in-law was one of his favorite things to do. He also loved to cook and have family over for holidays and always a rousing game of spades.

Mike was a big man, with a big heart and big personality. He was always available to help with anything at any time. He will be missed by everyone that knew him, and never forgotten.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanie Threadgill, Daughter; Melissa McAllister and husband Robert, Son; Troy Smith and partner Brandy Stewart, Grandchildren; Bobby McAllister, Courtney McAllister, Katie McAllister, and Savannah Smith. Brother Marshall Threadgill, Sister; Jennie Perot and husband Eddie Perot, and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. As well as many family members and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Muriel Threadgill, and his brother Randy Threadgill.
