Michael T. Tully, age 83, of Lemont, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022.  He was born in Chicago and raised in the Canaryville neighborhood. A graduate of Tilden Tech High School in 1956. After high school, he trained in lithography and worked at American Can Company from 1957 until 1998, a 41-year career at the same company. Also in 1957, Michael joined the U.S. Marine Corp, and was in the Reserves until 1965.  Michael also trained in photography, specializing in weddings, and worked part-time, and weekends.  He later started his own small business which he worked from 1965 to 1975.  Michael enjoyed boating, camping, traveling, wood crafts, and square dancing.


He married Carol Hostert-Haegele in 1969, and helped raise 2 young stepdaughters. 


He is survived by his wife, a sister Patricia (late William) Phillips, daughters Brenda nee Haegele (James) Swanson, and Gina nee Haegele (Karel) Kappler, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and friends.


Preceded in death by his parents John and Sophie nee Smolek Tully, and a brother John Tully.


Memorial visitation Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 2 – 8 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C., 108 Illinois Street, Lemont, IL 60439. Inurnment will be done privately.

Dear Uncle Mike, I am so glad I was able to attend your 80th surprise Birthday Party. When they brought you into the back room the look of surprise on your face was special. Soon you started saying Names as you spotted all of us. You were really shocked to see so many people. We all came as you have always been extra special to all of us. I will always have fond memories of my Uncle Mike, he had a way about him that made you feel welcomed n relaxed even if many years had past since we seen eachother. He had a huge heart and he showed that not only to his immediate family but to his nieces, nephew's, cousins and friends. You will surely be missed Uncle, if you perhaps see my Dad give him my love too! May God grant you eternal peace

I remember the time Uncle Mike and Aunt Carol met us in the North Woods... aka. Eagle River/ Three Lakes,WI. for some snowmobiling fun at the cabin. OH BOY, that was a Burriffic time to be had. Circa. Winter 1975. I couldn't tell who was who with the frosted helmet face shields! That was a very special memory for me! I'll miss your laugh and that mischievous smile. Time is too fleeting.
