Not sure what to say?

Dear Sally, Daniel, Garth and family, I am heartbroken to learn of Mike's passing. I had been emailing him for a couple of months with no response, so I Googled him and found this obituary. I was reaching out to Mike to let him know that Press 53 is publishing a 53-Word Story Contest anthology, 53 of our favorite winning stories. Mike was one of three authors to win our contest twice, and we'd like to include both of his stories in the anthology. I sent a letter to Sally, but it came back. I...

I recently found out about Mike's passing and still processing it. lt just doesn't seem real. Even though l had not kept in touch for many years, the college and work memories are very much alive in my mind. He was my true friend when things got tough. Always with positive and encouraging words. I enjoyed his sense of humor and warmth...his perspective on life and knowledge about diverse subjects. I will miss my drinking buddy for a long time. You left us too soon. My condolences to Sally and...

I have great memories of Mike - both as a geology student at Georgia State and later as a practicing geologist and friend. His unique sense of humor and wide ranging depth of knowledge was most impressive! He will be sorely missed ! Bruce and Jeanne O'Connor.

I was sad to learn of Michael's passing. He was entertaining, witty, intelligent and sincere. Michael crossed lines that others would not dare. He was also kind and thoughtful. His many interests inspired others to appreciate the world/universe of which we are all a part. I wish that I had known him better in high school. We can thank Facebook for helping us to stay in touch and get to know each other better. Michael is now a star in the sky watching over all of us.

I’m going to miss him for a very long time.

I met Mike at my first (geology) job in 2007. We stayed in touch, and he really pushed me to get my Professional Geologist license. I don't think I would have gotten it without his encouragement. It was nice to read that he was that person to others as well. He was so funny and talking to him always brought a smile to my face. There was no one else like him.

Became Facebook friends with Michael sometime back. So enjoyed his love for nature and his extremely sharp wit. Such an interesting fellow. Very sorry for your loss of someone so obviously irreplaceable

Michael, you were & are such a grand gift, God shared you with us, and it is evident here, in the memories shared. You inspired many, who will continue their various avenues, and you brought great joy to many. You imparted much wisdom, I often googled to be in the subject loop. You were so full of life and loveable, even though you wouldn't have thought of yourself as a teddy bear. You had a way to make a person feel welcomed. I thought everyone had forgotten me, but you jogged your...

Thank you for such a wonderful obituary. Heart felt condolences to Sally and all the family. I have been thinking of all the adjectives I could use to describe Michael, but none are adequate enough. He will always be a twinkling bright shining star in the night sky.
