** The services for Michael have been now rescheduled with a cemetery graveside service this Friday, December 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL **

Michael “Jason/Peewee” Francis Joseph Vagnoni, age 66 of Charlotte passed away December 1st, 2020.  Mike will be lovingly remembered by Libby, his wife and best friend of 47 years.

In the 1970’s, Mike “aka Jason” was the drummer in the band Euphoria.  Other members of the band were: John, Wayne, Don, Ziggy, Mike, and Dave.  Later, Mike “aka PeeWee” served his country in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Nathanial Greene-Gold (SSBN-636) submarine as QM 2 SS, joining a lifelong brotherhood with Randy, Danny, and fellow shipmates. Mike then went on to a long and successful career as a Technical Tooling Engineer. Throughout these years, he was a man who loved to cook and valued family above all else. He also enjoyed coaching baseball for his son Jason. Mike was known as a spirited person equipped with wit and humor. His smiling laughter will echo long into our hearts.

Mike was predeceased in death by his beloved mother Jacqueline (Mlady) Vagnoni, beloved father David Pasquali Vagnoni, and his beloved sister Marilyn (Vagnoni) Morales.

Mike will be dearly missed by his sisters Donna and Joni; his children Jason, Matthew, Anthony, and Linzi. He was a proud grandfather of Bradley, Alice, Catherine, and David; and a godfather to Nicholas and Jordin. He was an uncle to Melisa, Laurisa, Nicholas, Jackie, Erin, Jordin, and Samantha; and a great uncle to Landon, Oliver, Giovanni, Avery, Aniston, Alaina, and Patrick.

Libby sends a special thank you to “the guys”, his friends, and his brothers. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kirby, Dr. Barrocas, Dr. Uszenski, and the caring nurses at Novant Huntersville Medical Center for their care and kindness.

We welcome family and friends to say their goodbyes on Friday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m. during the Assumption Catholic Cemetery service, 19500 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Glenwood, IL 60425.

Libby:

I can't tell you how sad it was to hear of PeeWee's passing. Even though many years have gone by, the suddenness of the news stopped me in my tracks. Memories flooded in from being on the boat, off-crews without a care in the world, and ship's parties. I remember him playing the drums with the Drifters at one party and blew us all away by not only how good he was, but how much fun he was having. I will always remember his laugh and how quickly (and loudly) it would come......

Dear Lib, Jay, Matt, Tony, and Lindsay:

Words aren’t enough to express our sadness for the loss of our submarine “Brother” “Pee Wee”. It’s taken a few days to process and put these words down, so I hope you’re able to understand where my head’s at. Mike was a Brother who was always proud to tell you he genuinely loved his family. All his Nasty Nat buddies knew, that beneath all the submariner macho crap, was a caring husband and father who’d allow NOTHING to stand in the way of his...

Really miss his laugh, smile and sense of humor. He definitely cherished his family and Love for all of you. My thoughts and prayers to you, I am very...
