Michael Allen Vlahakis


Mike Vlahakis lost his battle with cancer on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born in Rhinelander on Tuesday, April 2, 1940 to Peter and Verna Vlahakis. He attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1958. He attended college in River Falls and Eau Claire.


He married Patricia (Pat Ek) on May 29, 1965. He is survived by his wife; Pat, his daughter; Michelle (Paul) Venzke and his two grandsons; Caleb and Noah of Tomahawk and his sister; Lana Vlahakis of Huntley, Illinois.


Mike was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his brother; Bob.


His life work was owning and operating the Rhinelander Café and Pub until 2005.


Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising German Short Haired Pointers. Celebrating holidays and spending time with his family were important to him.


A private family service will be held.


Memorials in his honor may be given to Ducks Unlimited.
