Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel - Worcester Obituary

Michael Warshaw, 64, passed away unexpectedly June 12, 2020. There was no inkling that on this particular Friday evening Michael would take flight; he was here, and then suddenly, he was gone. This much can be said: He left behind many broken hearts, among them his wife Donna, his sons...

Not sure what to say?

Mike was a wonderful and funny colleague of mine at the Globe. Always supportive. He is missed by many.

I still vividly remember Michael's presence in the Boston Globe newsroom. His enthusiasm and humanity were striking. We were put in a position to compete with each other, but he completely diffused the situation and we instantly became friends. I miss him mightily.

I knew Michael in junior high school in Bangkok during the late 1960s. We were fast friends, with shared interests in current events, history, and strategy gaming. Later in the aughts we reconnected by email and he shared some school yearbooks with me that I had lost along the way. I learned only now that he had died, and I'm sorry that he and I never had a chance to meet and talk face to face again.

Michael Was an amazing man and a mentor for me back in the 80's at the radio station. Your work as a creator of knowledge and story telling is legacy. I walk by your grave often and nod a hello. Rest well, old friend. Tim

Here's a memory, and it was one of the best pieces of advice I ever got from an editor: 'Tell them what you just told me'. It's been a byword ever since.

Michael was my boss many years ago at Eaton Financial Corporation. He was always pushing me to do a little better, and I will always remember conversations and funny lines we shared. Most of all, I will remember Michael as a warm and wonderful man, and as much of a book lover as me. If not for Michael, I would have missed out on some wonderful reads. My sympathy to Donna and all his family and loved ones. Thank you, Michael

Donna, My heart broke when I learned of Mikes passing. May warm memories comfort you and your family during this difficult time. Judy

I first met Michael during the mid 70's through affiliations with the community media explosion (Clark U - WCUW - Channel 13 - Summer's World - and of course Moynihan's ! I was fortunate enough to engineer one of my first major productions as an audio engineer with Michael as the producer/director of a really cool radio drama ! Working on that project with him and the cast of characters included ( Tabio - Frank - Baldo - etc ) was a lesson in coolness I'd never forget! Michael was always...

My deepest condolences to the family and peace to his soul. The thought of Mike brings warm memories of our Robinson high school years in Puerto Rico and of our class of 72.
Rest In Peace Mike.
