Not sure what to say?

He was a great doctor. Praying for his family.

I knew him as Mr. Funderburk. I guess I should have called him Dr. Funderburk but he was not the kind of guy to correct something like that. His laugh is what will stay with me. It was unique and could be heard from across the room. It was a laugh that got you laughing, and then that laugh grew into another laugh, and soon enough everyone is laughing. A happiness chain reaction. He always seemed to choose to be happy when the option was presented. My thoughts are with all the Funderburks,...

Mr. Funderburk was larger than life. I distinctly remember him and Grant's aunts dancing the night away with no shoes on at Elon graduation! He was the life of the party and a true family man. From trips to NYC to visit Grant and attend Brent's piano recitals to all the stories I've heard over the years from Grant about their time on the golf course, he will be missed dearly. Sending all of my love and prayers to the Funderburk family.

I was not lucky enough to know Dr. Funderburk very well; however, what I can say about him, knowing his son Grant extremely well - he was clearly a one-of-a-kind role model. Those of us sons, who are lucky to be blessed with a father we can look up to know the impact it has made on us. The quality of character in his sons - integrity, selflessness, loyalty, respect and determination. Dr. Funderburk touched my life by being the father, friend, and role-model for one of my best friends. If his...

I was saddened and shocked to hear of Dr. Funderburk's passing. I am a nurse and worked with him at Shriners Hospital many years ago. He was always so kind to all of our patients and their parents. He was a joy to work with, he was friendly and always happy and treated everyone with respect. He was a wonderful man and surgeon that will truly be missed. I loved working with him and send my condolences to his family.

Our deepest sympathy to Michael’s family and friends. May God provide you with comfort and love during this very difficult time. God Bless, Ann and Mike Leath

Dr. Funderburk’s death is such a great loss to Spartanburg. He was one of the most loving, compassionate people I have ever known. He was my doctor and my friend. To know him was to love him. My prayers go out to his family and all those that loved him.

I'm saddened to learn of Dr. Funderburk's
passing. He did a total hip replacement for me in 2008. He was the best surgeon I had ever seen. Praying for the family.
