To Mike's family: I am heartbroken to read of his passing, and I'm sorry for your loss. Mike was one of my PhD mentors at UVA, and he had a tremendous impact on my life both during and beyond my training. During this time, he had quite a busy schedule but always made space for me. I learned of Michael's passing today from cousin Bill Weber. William E. Weber, brother of Palmer Weber, was my father. The last time I saw Michael was at the memorial service for David. There's something unique about people you meet in a moment who stick in your mind. Esp when you can't say why. I met him very briefly ... no more than a 15min chat in Haverford College Apartment 34 ... but remember him quite distinctly. I was a classmate of his son Aaron's in college and Dr Weber's pride in his alma mater helped me see a special place through different eyes than just a younger-than-my-years freshman. I also recall Aaron seeking out good tiramisu because his father swore it...

Gertrude Weber and Michael Weber, two good people. We were war buddies. They will be missed.

Dr Weber and all the researchers he inspired will be missed. UVA saved my life in 1994 from cancer that was diagnosed incurable and I can walk the halls now to the astonishment of those who knew me. A man like Dr Weber served a higher purpose than most and his work is a great testament to his intellect and heart. My years employed at UVA gave me the privilege to have known him.
