Michael P. Wigger, 1947-2019, died peacefully Dec. 16, with his wife and friends by his side. An avid reader, his interests ranged widely. He loved loons and their haunting calls and a golden retriever was always by his side. He was a miner in the summer and a heavy equipment operator in winter....

Michael was truly one of a kind. I have known plenty of good miners but he is the only one I knew who shifted from mining gold to mining prehistoric bones. Perhaps his greatest find is in a museum in Texas. The proceeds from that "nugget"- a bear skull I think- helped fund the beautiful home he and his devoted, beloved wife built. Godspeed Michael.
