Michael Douglas "Yak" Yakimicki, a resident of LaPorte, Indiana since 1996 and formerly of Grovertown, passed away August 13, 2016, at Hospice Franciscan Communities at St. Anthony Health in Michigan City, Indiana, of kidney cancer. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. Mike was born January 10, 1949, in Plymouth, Indiana to the late John L. and Dolores A. (Leland) Yakimicki. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Jean (Weiss) Yakimicki, whom he married on September 27, 1995. Also surviving are his son, Michael J. (Sara) Yakimicki of Grovertown; his daughter, Amy (Eric) Graves of Marion, Illinois; six grandchildren, Autumn, Alyssa, Austin, John, Dylan, and Tyler; three brothers, Gary, Bob (Gail) Yakimicki, and Don (Verdona) Yakimicki. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Yakimicki. Mike graduated from Oregon-Davis High School in 1967. He was an employee of ArcelorMittal (formerly Bethlehem Steel) since 1967. He was athletic and enjoyed playing basketball, canoe/fishing trips, deer hunting, cutting wood with his son, going to the casino, and spending time with friends and family. Private graveside services will be held and the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

To Family. I worked with Mike at Bethlehem for many years. Just heard of his passing today. Sorry for your loss.

So sorry! Pam. He will be missed at our family get together soon. I'm glad that mike and John were able to spend time withhimat boundary waters. IF there is ever anything we can do for you be sure to ask. Our players are with you.

I got to know Mike in the late 70's and early 80's. I hadn't seen him since then but, I'll always remember the good times I had being around him. Mike had a great energy that was very unique. RIP
