Not sure what to say?

My heart goes out to Cory and to all of Mike's relatives and friends. We met a lifetime ago, when he was called Ichabod, the witty WMU radio DJ with a passion for music, a happy dog named Boogie and a penchant for enhanced sound. As decades passed, it seemed to me that he lived his life with style and purpose...a unique blend of seriousness and humor, candor and kindness. I was always looking up at Mike because he was so tall. Over the past few years, I was looking up to him, too, because he...

You were the inspiration for each other, and celebrated life because of each other, Cory. While grief at this time of year seems to be infinite, Dad proved when he called my answering machine from the other side that he was able to communicate even after passing. I believe that your Michael will do the same, and with all of my heart to you both, may this be so for the two of you. Tears and condolences with all of my love to you!

Mike had such a kind and gentle soul. I remember him scooping up my sweet little cat, Mimi, when he first met her, and promptly kissing her on her forehead. I said to myself at that moment: "This is a special man!"

I am so sorry for his lengthy struggle - for Mike's sake, and for all of his loved ones'. Cory, you know I am thinking of you and will be here for you whenever you need.

With warm memories...

We became friends with Mike in the 1970's as part of the Vine Street crowd. We were fans of Ichabod at WIDR. He was a big part of that time in our lives when you try to figure out who you are and what direction your life will take. We have been fortunate to have him as a friend ever since. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be sorely missed. Cory, you have our deepest sympathy.

From one of the old Long Lake Ave kids, may you rest in peace

I was lucky enough to get to get to know Mike while working at WIDR in the early 70's. We actually did a talk show as a team. :-) The WIDR association led to an ongoing friendship. I recall MANY trips to "Deer Lick" near South Haven with the two of us and all of our dogs in the back of the Limobod. Big smile, I'm glad to have had you a part of my life. Our world is diminished.

Michael was one of the first dj's I met when working at WIDR in the 70's. He was already an institution around Kalamazoo for spinning tunes on the airwaves at WSEO. One thing to never forget about him...he always had a great big welcoming grin on his face. Gentle and funny, he and I shared an enthusiasm for music and for getting to "play" at the station while keeping our "day" jobs. Sincerest condolences to Cory and the family for your loss. RIP Michael.

Worked with Icabod (we never called him Mike at WIDR) and he was a gentle soul with a deep knowledge of music...music many people wouldn't know. Fond memories of our many conversations.

I worked with Michael at AmeriGas for many years and watched his and Cory's cat when they were on vacation. I send my sympathy to Cory and his family. I know how happy he was to meet you Cory.
