ZERKA, Michael G. – Of Fenton, age 79, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Serene Gardens.


Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint, Father Pierre T. Bassil officiating.


Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.Fox.orgFoundation.


Visitation 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Mr. Zerka will be at church 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.


Michael was born in Derdghya, Lebanon on April 17, 1943, the son of George and Nazeerah Zerka. Michael was one of 9 boys and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fayez, Elias, Aziz and Jamil.


Michael was in the Lebanese Military, where he was ranked as Corporal.


He then moved to Flint, Michigan.


Michael was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church.


Michael worked for GM with 32 years of service and retired in 2003.


He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and watching Game Show Network.


Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family; son, Frederick Zerka (Mandie) and daughter, Melissa Szemites (Brandon);


4 grandchildren, Anthony, Jaxon, Gabby and Lily;


4 brothers, Azar, Zayden, (Adila) Fouzi (Eliane) and Milad (Georgette);


several nieces and nephews.

I knew Mike he became part of our family after a few years of knowing him he did awsome things for our family he enjoyed visiting us in 1 of his homes he rented to us on Larchmont in Flint Twp he enjoyed our company as a friend as well as be our landlord for many years he rented to us we were sad to hear of his passing he hadnt stopped by in awhile thats when we found out thru fred his dad passed we gave our condolences and said we will miss his visits his smile and his laughter prayes and...

Mike was a joy! I enjoyed watching the GSN with him, playing cards, singing, laughing and listening to him tell stories about his life!! He also introduced me to his favorite Grape Leaves. I smile thinking about him every time I order them. He was an absolute Gem! Heaven gained a true angel

Mike and I worked across the line from each other, for 2 years at the Truck Plant He often spoke about his beloved children. Mike was also very proud of his brothers. He was a very pleasant and respectful person.
