Not sure what to say?

I loved your book Salt in our blood and wished for recipes you made for the crew on your boats. You sent the best Christmas letters, often enclosing family pictures. I kept all the cards and letters you sent over the years, I treasure them. You inspire me to be a better human being. Thank you for loving life.

Michele, We miss you and we love you. with love, Zoë

I spent a week getting to know Michelle at Rancho La Puerta. She was an extraordinary Woman. I am so grateful for our connection. May her memory be of a blessing to all her family and friends.

Sending love from Jackie, Mike, Rachel Milman and the 3 girls. Michele was there for me when we lost Matt by sending the beautiful and powerful books on losing a child, a bittersweet memory.

I worked with Michele off-and-on for the past 25 years...her passion was admirable. I will never forget when she stepped-in to personally help me--at a time when she was in deep grief but she still took the time to help me. I will never forget her kind and generous heart, and her great and thoughtful advice. She was a wonderful person...and did so much for others.

I met Michelle at Johns Hopkins when she was a senior and Resident Assistant in charge Royce House, my freshman dorm. Michelle was a mature, warm, encouraging, and welcoming presence to us all. Things ran smoothly all year, despite her having to navigate her senior year while dealing with three floors of often difficult college freshmen. One of my strongest memories of Michelle was when we had a mid-winter late night fire scare when we were all asleep. Michelle got us out of the building...

I worked with Michele on the Oregon State University Board of Trustees. I so admired her energy and her intelligence! So cheerful, so full of life, so caring, and so supportive of all-things-education. She was amazing. OSU is much poorer without her.

I'm very grateful to Michele and Bob for generously sharing their time and experiences with students in my classes at the Hatfield Marine Science Center, putting human faces and stories to fisheries.

I was devastated to read this obituary that Bob thoughtfuIly forwarded. I met Michele during our first year of law school. She was so bright and such a force. Everyone in our class knew and loved Michele, including the teachers which I reminded her of whenever possible. Lots of laughs and yet so accomplished. She may be gone but will not be soon forgotten. Farewell my friend.
