Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel Obituary

Michelle Leigh Carter, 43, of Cantonment, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Michelle was born on September 26, 1978, in Pensacola, FL, to James Larry Carter and Sarah Snyder Mason. Michelle grew up on Pine Forest Road in Cantonment, FL. She attended Tate High School where she was a proud member of the Show Band of the South Color Guard. She especially enjoyed being on the Chaparrals where she developed lifelong friendships.

After high school, Michelle attended Troy University and was a member of the Sound of the South Color Guard. She later attended Pensacola State College and earned an AS degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Michelle was a member of the Krewe of Daisy Dukes and continuing her love of dance was a member of the Ice Pilots Dance Team. She loved beach days and outings with family and friends and being around animals, especially horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, and gerbils. But most of all she loved being with and raising her daughter, Ariah. Michelle had a very compassionate and outgoing personality. She loved the Lord and encouraged others to know Him.

She is survived by her daughter, Ariah Ellis; mother, Sarah Mason; stepfather, Scott Mason; father and stepmother, Larry and Angela Carter; brother, Matt Carter; niece, Brynleigh Hutto; sister, Allison (David) Armas; sister, Rachel (Bobby) Finigan; stepsister, Tara Mason; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital for compassionately caring for Michelle.
