O'Brien Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services - South Hadley Obituary

After a strong fight against metastatic breast cancer, Michelle (Dupuis) Tetreault, 61, of Groton, CT passed away peacefully on Dec. 13th surrounded by her family. Michelle was born on June 20, 1960 in South Hadley, MA. After graduating from South Hadley High School in 1978, she went on to study social work at North Adams State College. After marrying Kerry in 1983, she had two daughters that she loved fiercely. In Michelle’s own words “my daughters were the best thing I ever did”. Michelle enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, watching the Patriots (before Tom Brady left), and long walks on the beach, especially in the winter. Some of her favorite things were cape cod potato chips, lobster dinners, oysters, and spending time with her granddogs Oakley and Rusty. She fought hard to be able to dance with her daughter at her wedding this fall. She recently retired from Electric Boat in Groton, CT where she made countless friendships. She was a force to be reckoned with, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her. Michelle was predeceased by her father Richard Dupuis of Chicopee, MA. She is survived by her mother Barbara (LeGrand) Yates, her brother Richard Dupuis of Chicopee, MA; her daughters Nicole Tetreault of Swampscott, MA, and Brianna (William) Borg, of East Hampton, CT; their father Kerry Tetreault of East Haddam, CT; and countless family members. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or METAvivor in Michelle’s honor.  The funeral will be Monday December 20th starting with visiting hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at The O’Brien Family Funeral Home 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 30 Main St., South Hadley, MA at 11:30 am. Burial to follow in Precious Blood Cemetery. For more information or to make online condolences please go to obrienfamilyfh.com.

Group of 10 Trees

I just came across this and didn't realize she was ill. It's been many years since I've seen her. I enjoyed my time with her while I was Nicole and Brianna's Girl Scout leader. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I miss you more than words can express Mom. Life will never be the same without you. I hope that you have found peace in heaven and an end to your suffering. You’ll forever be in my heart

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Michelle. Michelle was such a pleasure to work with and be around. My prayers are with her family.

In the short time I knew Michelle, I experienced her "force that was to be reckoned with" and appreciated her honesty and New England charm once we got to know one another. Michelle’s lasting impression for me will be remembered always as someone who’s honesty was sincere. She will greatly missed in many ways. My condolences to your entire family.

I graduated from South Hadley High with Michelle. I was new to the area and she welcomed me. Although I have not stayed in touchI definitely have never forgotten her. What a special person she was.

To say I won’t think of you daily is a lie to say I won’t miss you and your hard headedness would be an understatement. I will always appreciate you and how you called me your 3rd child. Ma I will miss you deeply please give Steve a hug for me. Until we see each other again, I love you and will miss you immensely.

I remember Michelle so fondly from working together at SCL in Holyoke in the early 1980's. She was delightful to be around and I considered her more a friend than a coworker. May angels wrap their wings around you, dear.
