Not sure what to say?

In my language teaching, I still apply what Professor Hagiwara taught us.

Anne Shlionsky Hagiwara, I just found this page. I was one of the TA he instructed in Ann Arbor. I am grateful that I was his student and I remember him as insightful, wise, deeply well-meaning towards us, eminently respectable.

Dear Anne,
I just found the news about Pete's passing and I offer your my deepest condolences. My parents regarded him as almost another son.

Dear Anne,

I was so saddened to hear about Peter. You and your family are in my thoughts and my prayers. May God bless you all.

With love,

Alix

My deepest condolences and sympathy to Mrs. Anne Hagiwara and the family for the loss of Professor emeritus Peter Hagiwara. I would not be here as I am now without his help during my residence in the mid-1980s at the University of Michigan. I am ever so grateful that I took his French classes, which resulted in our friendship that lasted for more than 20 years. He will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened at learning of Professor Peter Hagiwara's passing. He was a remarkable and truly unforgettable teacher. I had him as a doctoral student to fulfill the foreign language requirement at the University of Michigan, but the class became so much more than simply "meeting a requirement." In it I learned more about French culture and literature than I ever could have imagined. Apart from being one of the very best classes that I have ever taken anywhere, it was taught by a...
