He served during Vietnam for a “three year and seven-day” enlistment. Mike married Linda Hook and to this union Michael, Christopher, and Jason were born. He later married Julie Wright and Jessica was born. On November 20, 1999, Mike married Carol Selenski in Anchorage, Alaska where they lived and Elea was born. Mike worked as a pipeline engineer in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and as a commercial fisherman. In 2006, they moved to Sturgeon Lake and Mike continued to fly back to Alaska to work until 2011. In 2011, Mike started volunteering at Riverside Hockey Arena in Moose Lake. He later was hired as an assistant and then eventually managed the Hockey Arena. Mike also worked for the City of Moose Lake during the summer as a ground’s keeper. He loved gardening, woodworking, bowling, and watching sports with Elea. Mike was a member of the Willow River American Legion.

We so enjoyed the time we spent with Mike at the cabin during our college reunions. Mike was a wonderful human being and he was instantly part of our gang. He will be so missed. We are sending our love to Carol and the family.

Mike’s smile and ALL his stories will be sorely missed. Once he showed me pictures on his phone of his colorful flower gardens; very proud. I will forever be grateful to him for getting me my north slope job! He was a great guy to have on your side.
Condolences to his grieving family and to all who luved him
