Send FlowersBURKETT, Mike Leniol Sr. "Bud," 71, of Highland Springs, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lucille Burkett; and his father, Mike Hunter Burkett. Bud is survived by his son, Mike Leniol Burkett Jr.; mother, Mary Melton; sister, Donna Melton; grandchildren, David Burkett, Monica Burkett, April Harper; and great- grandsons, Blake Burkett and Brayden Burkett. He was retired from Wyeth Company, a member of Tri-County Cowboy Church, and a member of Gold Wing Touring Association, Region D. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 26, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27. Interment will be at Signal Hill Memorial Park.

My uncle Mike. I hate to look back now and realize after aunt Margaret passed we slowly lost touch. I loved coming over all the time and playing super nintendo. I had tapioca pudding for the first time with you and Margaret. I use to beg my mom to take me to see yall. My grandma and I were just talking about you over the summer wondering what you were up to. I remember the last time I saw you was at that gas station on the corner of Nine Mile and Airport Drive. Gosh that was over 10 years...
