Mike was my first drum teacher. I used to pass his flat after school at Lincoln High and hear him playing. This was back in 1962.One day I got the courage to ring his doorbell. I found him to be a great guy and explained how I loved percussion but didn’t know anything about drums. He agreed to give me lessons and he went with me to help pick out my first drum kit. I went on to play and love the drums for the next 50 years playing in a number of bands. When I married and had a family I...

I worked with Mike at Clear Channel and always loved our lunch adventures. Mike, Jack Chunn, Chris Edwards, Pat Irving and I (John Fingarson) would pile into Chunn's car and head off on an adventure. Whether it was The Original Joe's, The Connecticut Yankee, Capps Corner, Basque Cultural Center, you name it, we always had a great time. Mike was friendly, witty and fun to be around.
