Michael John Horan, 69, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 3:15 AM at his home. He was born on November 29, 1944 in Ft. Madison to Vincent and Violet Bichsel Horan. Mike served in the US Marines from 1963-1966 during Vietnam. He married Barb Vonderhaar and they later divorced. He then married Sharon Wyrick Rodefer on July 9, 1973 in Carthage, IL. Mike worked at Kaiser Steel from 1966 until 1972 and then did iron work from 1973-1986. He worked at IAAP from 1986 until his retirement. He also owned and operated Horan's Cabaret along with his wife, Sharon since 1973. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Horan of Ft. Madison; a son, Tommy; a daughter, Bobbie Jo (Kermit) Willis of Ft. Madison; grandchildren, Wesley and Cassie Willis of Ft. Madison; a brother, Robert Horan of Ft. Madison; two sisters, Pat Clark of Seattle, WA and Mary Lee Horan of Nauvoo, IL; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. An Irish Wake will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Elks Lodge in Ft. Madison with Billy Bell as the officiant. All friends are invited to attend. Per his wishes, his body has been cremated and his cremains will be scattered at a later date in Ireland.
