Mike Matanich

People don´t come any better than Mr. Matanich. He was such a wonderful man. I miss him and Mrs. Matanich. I´m so glad I was able to spend so many years with them both. They were truly amazing people.

Mr. Matanich was my favorite teacher at Jason Lee junior high school in 1976. I had him for a horticulture class and another science class. I loved it and continued on in high school and college taking horticulture classes and got a job at Clark County PUD because of my horticulture classes and worked there 38 years because of them and retired at age 56. I credit my wonderful and kind teacher for the opportunity.

We lived across the street from Mike and Millie for 32 years. Each of their 4 older daughters babysat our son, Drew, over the years. Mike was a great guy and shared his science expertise with our son and with Cynthia. He helped develop mine and Cynthia's interest in birds, and our backyard bird feeders and houses are testaments to his influence.
