MIKE G. RICO

Mr. Rico was born on November 20, 1930, in Phoenix, AZ to Ramon and Ramona Rico. Mike was called home by our Lord and granted eternal life on Monday, August 25, 2014, at the age of 83. Mike and his family moved to Reedley in 1946 where he lived until he joined the United States Army in 1952 to serve in the Korean War. On June 3, 1956, Mike married his wife Annie D. Rico and was blessed with three children Erlinda, George, and Diane. Mike was a devoted husband and father to his family. Together Mike and Annie provided and cared for their family and home, thus, instilling family values and a strong work ethic into all of their children. Mike enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing the guitar. He shared these activities with his six grandchildren, teaching them all at a young age to water ski and fish which brought him great joy. He was always the navigator on family trips loading everyone into the van. He loved his time on the highway with his family. Mike was preceded in death by Annie D. Rico, his wife of 56 years; parents, Ramon and Ramona Rico; brothers, Armando, Ruben, and Ramon Rico; and sisters, Josefina Lopez and Herminia Orozco. Mike is survived by his daughters, Erlinda Valdez and husband Domingo, and Diane Archuleta and husband Jack, all of Sanger; son, George Rico and wife Rita of Fowler; grandchildren, Dominic Valdez of Clovis; Jack Archuleta, Jr., Eric Rico, and Nicole Archuleta, all of Los Angeles, Steven Valdez and wife Theresa of Sanger, and Elise Rico and Fiancé, Stanley Valenzuela of Visalia; and sisters, Ofelia Badilla of Reedley and Angie Delgado and husband Henry of Clovis. Mike is also survived by many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Wallin's Sanger Funeral Home on Monday, September 1, 2014, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at St. Mary's New Catholic Church on Monday, September 1, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's New Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Sanger Cemetery.
