Milka was an old family friend of the Lopatic's. As the youngest of 11, we would run into her and she would look at me and ask my mother, "is she yours?" As I grew to an adult, she was no longer the woman we occasionaly bumped into, but a real jewel of a person I got to know. I spent many days in her apartment listening to stories, looking at pictures and keeping company with someone who has lived longer than any of us can imagine.
