Mildred Dixon Ford, 89, of Brightwood, died Friday, March 7, 2008 in the Orange County Nursing Home. She was born May 28, 1918 in Brightwood and was the daughter of the late Joseph Tucker Dixon and Sarah Lillard Dixon. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Oak Park. She was a Sunday school teacher and participated in many church functions. She supported the Brightwood Ruritan Club, Madison 4-H Madison, Cub Scout and many other organizations. Her favorite hobbies were painting, baking and the outdoors. She is survived by her husband, Thomas William Ford, Sr. of Brightwood; one daughter, Nancy F. Tanner and husband Russell of Madison; three sons, Thomas W. Ford, Jr. and wife Alice Ann of Oak Park, David D. Ford and wife Rhonda of Brightwood, Alan Page Ford and wife Katherine of Madison; one brother, Denton R. Dixon and wife Delores of Madison; ten grandchildren and; thirteen great-grandchildren and two sisters-inlaw, Ervil Carpenter Dixon and Jean Judd Dixon both of Madison. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randolph T. Dixon, John H. Dixon and two sisters, Margaret D. Smith and Annie L. Kitchen. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kathleen Work and Dr. Tommy Palmer with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Preddy Funeral Home of Madison are in charge of the arrangements.
