Mildred K. Hartzler, 97, of Smithville died early Thursday morning, April 21, 2005 at the Apostolic Christian Home.
She was born on November 4, 1907 in Tremont, IL to August and Rosa (Pflederer) Laukhuf and lived in Payne, Ohio before moving to the Smithville area in 1937. She was a homemaker and a member of the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church.
She married William H. Hartzler on July 24, 1937 and he died in 1955.
Surviving are sons, Glen (Sandra) Hartzler of Reading, MA, and Earl Hartzler of Smithville; daughter, Lois Hartzler of Smithville; grandchildren, Mark Hartzler and Eric Hartzler both of Reading, MA. Brothers, Oscar, Richard, Alvin, Kenneth and Merril Laukhuf, and sisters, Anna and Marie Stoller, Hilda Wenninger, and Eunice Laukhuf all died previously.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, 8530 Fulton Rd., Sterling with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4, 6-9 P.M. on Friday at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman and from 9:30 - 10:15 A.M. on Saturday at the church. A beautiful, loving, caring person. She gave me 2 coats I still wear, an aqua Outer Banks rain coat & Pendelton wool watch plaid full length coat. She picked up Dave & Becky for church when I taught Sunday School. We'll miss her.
