Mildred Hurst

Mildred arrived at the Valley of Our Lady Monastery in Wisconsin in 1958 as their first postulant and her ability to speak German was invaluable to the foundresses, who, having just come from Switzerland in 1957, did not yet know English. In addition to trying to help the foundresses understand American language and culture, Mildred willingly embraced the hardships every new monastic foundation faces.
