Not sure what to say?

Sister Mildred, as my Cathedral High School honors chemistry teacher, without my realizing it at the time, you began to prepare me for a successful career in power generation, specializing in nuclear fission and chemical combustion reactions. Again without my realizing it at the time, you gave me understanding of the mathematics behind the slide rule, understanding of the periodic table of the elements, and the nature and behavior of electrons around atomic nuclei. Because of you Sister...

I first met Sr. Maria Peter, as a 14 year old freshman at Cathedral. I have a million stories about this incredible woman. My senior year, a car accident put three of my friends in the hospital and a fourth, very close friend, had died. She took me into that little room that the science teachers had behind their desks to let me cry. We both stood there and cried. Both of us. After a while she handed me a roll of toilet paper, told me to blow my nose, and fix my tie, and head to class. Never...

Sister Maria Peter, You were my favorite in my four years at CHS. I always remembered Chemistry with my great lab partner Lynn and the success we had with our projects. You were ever encouraging and positive as a Home Room teacher as well. May you rest in peace. John Zebb, CHS 1970

What a joy it was to have been one of her students. She was my homeroom teacher and I will never forget her. She wrote a letter during the Viet Nam draft to support me being a contentious objector. I still got drafted! She was fabulous teacher. She never spoke down to me and always made me feel special. She remembered having my brother Denis in her class seven years earlier (he was very charismatic and funny). She actually called me Denis when I saw her twenty years later! God Bless You...

Many students at Cathedral High School who had the pleasure, and honor to be in Sr. Maria Peter's chemistry class were not only educated in the scientific aspects, but Sister inculcated the methodology of relating components to the whole (the bigger sphere, especially chemical reactions). That approach made mastering the basics of Chemistry a breeze for many of us. She made learning enjoyable with her bright, personable, interactive style. Additionally, her disciplined approach to learning...

Thank you Sister - you and you the SSJs selflessly helped form a generation. Please put in a good word for ND beating Ohio State tomorrow night. Patrick O'Shea - '79 CHS, '84 ND - GO IRISH.

Sister Millie and our mom were lifelong friends. I´m grateful for the love and support she gave during our mother´s final days. She visited often and I am blessed to have known her. Please accept our sincerest condolences. The Kathleen(Corley) Gauthier family.

I would still be trying to graduate from Cathedral had it not been for Sr. Millie's patience, expertise and grace getting me through Chemistry. She was a fabulous teacher and human being. I thought of her example often in my own career and was pleased to have stayed connected to her. Rest easy, Sr. Millie. Deb Lantaigne

I will always remember my first week at UMass, getting a phone call from the aunt of my sister´s friend Tess. What a blessing as that begin a special relationship with Sr Millie and the Newman Center. I remember Sr Millie joining us for a campus vigil around the campus pond in protest of a speaker promoting hate! I have so many wonderful memories and I´m glad I was able to have her in my life. My sympathy to you Tess, and all your family.
