Mildred Louise Russell, 89 of 307 N. Franks Ave., Sturgis, Michigan died May 2, 2003 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Mildred was born February 10, 1914 in Sturgis a daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Thompson) Bryie. She was a 1932 graduate of Sturgis High School. On December 31, 1933 in LaGrange, Indiana she married Charles L. Russell. Mildred and her husband Charles were in the Mobil Home business in Sturgis and Port Richey, Florida for many years until their retirement to Ocala, Florida. They moved back to Sturgis in 1981 and Mildred has since made her home here. Mildred was a homemaker, was always active doing what she knew best, making people feel loved and welcome, attended Community Bible Church, was a member of Sturgis Hospital Auxiliary and Emergency Room Guild. Mildred enjoyed crafts, was very accomplished at needlepoint and quilting enjoyed sewing , making food gifts for special holidays, volunteer work, as well as service to her Lord and church.

Surviving are her daughter: Sarah Wisler and husband Robert of Howe, Indiana, three grandchildren: Ann Akers and husband Patrick of Elkhart, Susan Christy and husband Randy of Missoula, Montana, and Stephen Wisler and wife Deborah of Sturgis. Six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one brother: Richard Bryie of Beaumont, Texas, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Charles and Alfred Bryie. According to her wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A memorial services celebrating the life of Mildred Louise Russell will be held at the Community Bible Church of Sturgis at 10:00 a.m. on May 23rd, 2003 with Pastor Steve Wisler officiating. Interment of the cremains will be held at a later date to be determined.
