SCHWERZLER, Mildred The relatives and friends of Mildred K. Schwerzler are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. on Monday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Mrs. Schwerzler was born on April 21, 1928, in Jacksonville, FL, a daughter of Marvin Fred and Marie Cook Kirkland. She graduated from St. Paul's High School, Yonges Island and was formerly employed as an X-Ray technician at Roper Hospital, a Supervisor in the production department of Carolina Mortgage Investment Co., an Administrative Assistant at the Laura Ford Realty Company, but foremost she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Mrs. Schwerzler was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, their Women's Guild, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a charter member of the South Carolina Society of X-Ray Technicians. She volunteered her time to numerous organizations including Orange Grove Elementary School where she taught water safety classes. Mrs. Schwerzler was as a Girl Scout Troop leader and served as Chairman of the Lowcountry Girl Scout Council. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She is survived by her seven children: Marie S. Novotney of Summerville, William K. Schwerzler, Jr. of Florence, Joseph R. Schwerzler of Winston- Salem, NC, Crescens S. Roach of Charleston, James L. Schwerzler of Aurora, IL Karl F. Schwerzler of Hanahan and Martin A. Schwerzler of Ft. Stewart, GA. as well as ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two brothers: Marvin Kirkland and Kenneth Kirkland.
