Mildred Forbes STEGALL

I would be more than happy to add to my previous comments. Working for LBJ as a young college student is a high light in my life, and Glenn & Mildred were so kind and helpful to me. A lovely couple that attended my wedding to Thomas Clyde McMurray on July 22, 1961 at the University of Maryland Chapel. She was a very sweet and dedicated lady.

I had the fortune of working with Mildred and Glenn in the Senate office of LBJ in D.C.in the late 50's & early 60's. To me they were the sweetest couple and our staff was one big happy family.Dorothy Torito and I, as her assistant, began filtering through old letters and papers which eventually was the beginning of the LBJ Library in Austin. I left the staff to continue my education at TCU & to marry my husgand Clyde. Mildred was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace. Janet Gough McMurray

To Mildred's Family: Marlin is my hometown, and Frances was my second grade teacher (although I was never allowed to call her "Frances"). She and my mom, Louise Dunlap, taught 2nd grade together for decades. I am so sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. The time I spent with her, caring for her, were one of the best times in my life. One afternoon I was laughing about something, she looked at me and decided that she would join me. She did not even know why I was laughing so hard, but decided that she too would laugh. Mildred was a member of my mom's Business Women's Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Austin after she retired. She later took excellent care of her ailing sister which kept her from church. My mom and I visited her one Christmas to deliver a poinsettia. When she Mildred invited us in, we realized that she had 8 or 9 poinsettias already delivered by other friends and family. I am impressed at the life she lived.
