A Tribute to Mildred Yoder

A dear sister and friend in Christ. I first met her 52 years ago at Mtshabezi in my last Primary School year in 1959. We met again at Matopo and finally at Mtshabezi again.

She became more than a teacher to me as we prayed together while I was at school and then many years later when she had been married to Abe Yoder we shared special times of Bible study and fellowship in the group.

She assisted me in many numerous ways in...

Mildred was a very dear friend. She and Eva Mae (Melhorn) Brubaker took us on our first week of village visitation as very new and young missionaries. Our lives have been interwoven ever since. I am so glad we had a chance to visit with her in January.

Lois and I want to add our condolences, and our appreciation for Millie. I also remember her in Zimbabwe of the 1970s, and we both remember Millie and Abe at the Guest House in Bulawayo. With appreciation for God's presence in their lives, Lois and Daryl Climenhaga

Faithful Christian servents leave there mark for the Lord and that was what Mildred has done. Mildred came home from Africa just at the time we needed help in the Gospel Tide office answering mail from our English broadcast to Africa. She was willing to help with this and also to sing in our choir. This gave me a lot of contact with Mildred and that was always a joy and a blessing.

Her rewards have added up very big and she is now collecting her well deserved rewards.

Sister Mildred was a sweet, committed Christian who lived her faith out in everyday life and also a life of service. She was an inspiration to many and will be missed.

Milly (as many of us called her) was one of eight missionaries born in 1927. Now she has joined the two who preceded her. We all on the mission field loved Mildred who was always cheerful and lived a consistent Christian life. I also have warm memories of visiting in Abe and Mildred's home in Belleville, both still caring about people and loving the Lord. My condolences to the family. I'm remembering now that the last time I saw Mildred was at the funeral of her sister-in-law and my...

My memories of Mildred go back to the 1970s when she was a single missionary teacher in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia). We attended Bible Memory Association Camps together with our students from Matopo and Wanezi who were also memorizing Scripture and served as counselors for them.
After Mildred marrie Abe and they wwent together to serve at the guest house in Bulawayo, I was teaching at Sikalongo Mission in Zambia. They visited us in the 1990s, at a time of stress and tension. Their...

I had Ms. Myers as a teacher at Shalom and you knew she had a deep love for children and teaching. She was always excited about teaching her lessons and that excitement made you want to learn!

I treasure the memories that I have of her as my English teacher. She was a very special lady. As her student, she made me feel special, loved, mothered. I think people all over the world were her children. I had a chance to visit her about a year ago - after I heard that she had moved back to the area. It was so good to see her again. It was a joy to introduce my children to her, to sit and visit together, and to share memories with my children on the way home that day. I was hoping...
