HOFFMAN--Miles Frederick. Our hearts were broken on August 18th when we learned my dearest Miles Frederick is no longer with us. Mike, my friend since we were crib mates, finally succumbed to a three and a half-year battle with Leukemia. A brilliant mind, gifted speaker, commentator, teacher,...

I am so sorry to just find this out today. Sadly we had not been in touch for many years but he was a great friend during our years together in Ann Arbor and New York and then later with occasional visits. I always had a wonderful and jolly time and will greatly miss him. My deepest (however belated) condolences to his family and friends.

I only today learned of Miles's passing and want to express my condolences to his family and friends. We lived in the same Yale College, Branford, where my suitemates and I enjoyed hearing Miles play and practice just a floor below in the same entryway. Every time I heard his commentaries on NPR over the years, it brought a smile to my face and a flood of musical memories. His memory will always remain a blessing.

Such engaging and brilliant commentary on classical music through NPR's Morning Edition for years that I will miss terribly. Condolences to the family and many friends of Miles. In loving humankindness and musical joy, Rudy Nyhoff Newark, DE

I listened to Miles every morning on WDAV. As a student of history and lover of chamber music I enjoyed his insightful one minute nuggets of trivia, truth, or tale. I will miss him joining me as I sipped my morning Joe. He was a the music professor I never had and my morning coffee buddy. May his legacy live on.

So sad to hear! Miles was my best private viola instructor ever!

Miles' great music was "music to my ears" and his kindness was "music to my soul". He will be missed by all who knew him.
