Miles Myers

Oh, Celeste, my brother and I talk about those days and our memories of you and Miles. Both of you brought energy and humor to every gathering. I remember getting a hair cut to look like you, though of course it didn't work! But Miles' intensity and sense of purpose were things I was very aware of, and have remained with me as models in life I will not forget. I hope you are well, and 2021 is a better year for all of us.

Dear Celeste,
I just learned about Miles passing.
I remember you and Miles and your young family from 1968 to 1970 when Harley Hiscox and I worked with him in the California Federation of Teachers office in Oakland. Miles exemplified the ideal of honesty and integrity in the political process.
He also earned my eternal gratitude when he helped me ( or I helped him) pack our moving truck when we left Oakland. He also was personally helpful in supporting my continued employment and...

I remember my dad (Eugene) and Miles in deep discussions about the teachers' union, as well as about classes and individual kids. At the time I was an outsider, just a kid myself, but I, too, became a teacher, and now have memories of my own participation in similar talks. Miles was one of those who showed me how deeply serious and important public school teaching is. Celeste, I hope you are doing well. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing, and I wish I had communicated with you before now. I have often thought of both of you, and the good times we had together. I am so sorry to hear of Miles' passing. Jazzercise will not be the same without his smiling face and positive energy. He was such an inspiration to see coming to class on a regular basis. I will miss him.

He was a good friend many years ago amd was an amazing teacher at Oakland High School

Mr Myers was undoubtedly the best teacher I had during my years at Oakland High School. He encouraged me (and other students) to think critically about every experience we encountered. I have very fond memories of my year in Mr. Myers' class. He touched the lives of so many of us! May his soul rest in peace for eternity!
